In this video guitar lesson I will demonstrate how to play all the chords to “Hey Jude” by The Beatles on the guitar.

Primarily written by Paul McCartney, “Hey Jude” is technically the most successful single The Beatles ever released. So that sounds like a good one to learn to me! 🙂

In this Hey Jude guitar lesson, I will take you step-by-step through the chords that were originally played on the piano and show you how to play them on the guitar.

I will keep the guitar in standard tuning for this one and feel free to use either acoustic or electric guitar when following along.

The are some melodic devices common with popular piano styles that can bit a bit awkward to recreate on the guitar. In this case, it would be the descending bass line that creates this issue for a guitarist. I think this transcription of “Hey Jude” isn’t overly cumbersome, but there will most likely be a couple of challenging chord changes for you to play, especially if you aren’t very comfortable with bar chords.

However, in the world of piano transcription, this guitar version is very playable and fits under the fingers quite nicely.

So have fun learning this legendary tune from the greatest band of all time!
