Hey all! This week I’m showing you the simplest possible chord progression for “What a Wonderful World” I could come up without sacrificing any of the important harmony or melody lines. There’s minimal use of barre chords, the chord voicings are all common ones you’ll encounter everywhere, and it’s performed at a nice slow tempo, so it’s a great tune for working up your rhythm playing. It’s also played at weddings and get-togethers the world ‘round, making it a great starting point for anyone looking to build up their guitar songbank.
This is also my first installment of a new lesson series I’m starting called Strum Chum Sessions. The idea behind it is to take well-known pop songs, especially those that don’t have obvious guitar parts; distill them into simple, strummable, and accurate arrangements; and then present them to you in the clearest, most succinct way to get you singing and playing your favorite songs as quickly as possible. Learning these songs will be fast, it’ll be easy, and it’ll be fun.
