In this Pearl Jam Black guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this amazing song off of Pearl Jam’s debut album Ten.
The tuning is standard tuning.
For most of the song, guitarist Mike McCready is playing Hendrix style fills over the underlying chord progression. Instead of going into these essentially improvised fills, I will instead include a TAB describing the scales and double-stops he is using to create those fills. Download that below.

In addition to that, I have a couple of video lessons that dive pretty deep into this style of chordal lead guitar work. Using the scales and double-stops from the TAB above, along with the information in these two lessons will enable you to create you own fills just like Mick McCready. Here are the links to those lessons below.
As for the rest of the song, the chord progressions remain pretty simple, especially during the chorus. I will take you through each section of the song in the order that it appears.
Towards the end on the lesson, I will demonstrate the guitar solo. There are a lot of things going on over the solo, which can make it difficult to make out what is being played. I will help you uncover those gems. 🙂
Have Fun! #blackguitarlesson #pearljam #guitarcovers
