The RG series by Ibanez consist of guitars which are recognised by their distinctive body silhouette and superb rock sound. The GRGM21M model is from the RG miKro series, which gives the guitar a more compact frame and a 22 inch scale neck thus making it an ideal choice for a younger musician or perhaps a travelling live performer. Do not be fooled by its smaller size, though, as its humbucking pickups ensure that rock and metal tones can be easily achieved.
BODY
The GRGM21M has the quintessential double cutaway body design as is often found in Ibanez guitars, allowing for easy access to the upper frets on the neck. The GRGM21M has a solid body constructed out of poplar, a prominent tonewood used in electric guitars thanks to its ability to produce well-balanced tones. The slight bevel in the body gives your arm somewhere comfortable to rest which reduces fatigue as you play.
NECK
A GRGM maple neck is firmly fitted to the guitar, naturally light in colour and smooth to touch, making a wonderful playing surface since the fingerboard is made from maple too. The guitar is equipped with 24 medium frets which can be freely explored due to the body’s double cutaway.
INFINITY R PICKUPS
The GRGM21M has kitted out with Infinity R humbucking pickups at the neck and bridge positions. They work wonderfully together to produce mean tones with added warmth, balance and expression, responding accurately to your pick attack or power chords with no trouble.
Ibanez have kept the controls simple, with knobs for Volume and Tone accompanied by a 3-way pickup toggle selector.
HARDWARE AND FINISH
The fixed hardtail bridge has a durable construction which is robust enough to keep a firm connection between the body and the strings to allow you to play as hard as you like. The guitar is finished with chrome hardware which helps it stand out from the rest.
At such a great, low price, the Ibanez GRGM21M Spot Run model is definitely not one to miss out on.
