In this free video guitar lesson, I will show you how to play Should I Stay or Should I Go by the legendary English punk rock band, The Clash.
It will probably only take a you a few minutes to get this one down, it contains pretty much just one relatively simple chord progression.
They do employ some barre chords within the chord progression to give it a slightly different sound, but if you can play those well, you shouldn’t have much trouble at all.
Because the chords are relatively simple, I spend a lot of time in the video lesson helping you play the correct strumming pattern.
Playing the correct strumming pattern is very important, especially when you get to the faster version of the chord progression. The key here is to keep the momentum always moving in the strumming hand. By doing that, you will always stay within the groove.
Also, towards the end of the fast section, there is a quick little chord sequence that leads you back to the verse. Don’t forget about that or you may get lost. 🙂
“Should I Stay or Should I Go” would be a great song for the beginner level guitarist who is trying to master proper right hand strumming skills. Just keep that hand, wrist and forearm nice and relaxed and you should be fine.
Enjoy!!
