Yamaha GL1 Guitalele: https://amzn.to/2wO9h4L
Kids can learn to play guitar, but we need to make it as simple for them as possible, and that starts with the right guitar.
In the past, I’ve always had to teach on either the normal guitar or the ukulele, until I discovered a hybrid.
The Guilele or Guitalele is the best of both worlds, and it’s reasonably priced, right at $100. It is the size of a ukulele, which is great for small kids, but plays like a guitar, so they can transition to a larger guitar when they grow up and take all of their knowledge with them.
My two oldest kids started learning on a Guilele at ages 6 and 8, and it has worked great for them. I feel confident that they will be able to upgrade to a normal guitar as they grow, and keep learning where they left off.
