If you want to develop a greater expanse of your chord knowledge so you have more chord options to choose from on a regular basis, then this might be one of the most important guitar lessons on new chord patterns that you’ll ever watch.
It can be common for a guitarist to study and only experience the working knowledge of just a few chord patterns in their chord repertoire. In fact, having limited chord knowledge is rather common for both beginner and intermediate guitar players!
Sometimes guitar players only learn one or two chord shape options in their daily study routine. This can include chord ideas like the open chord shapes or quite often a guitarist may also possibly know about a few barre chord shapes.
Whether this lack of knowledge is caused by limited exposure to music styles or learning too similar songs, the problem of limited chord knowledge is often rooted in an accumulation of practicing too many pieces in the exact same genre. This practice (of playing only one genre of music), results in having a collection of the same chord shapes used over and over again.
