Hey everyone! Welcome to another easy beginner guitar lesson! Today we’re going to learn the 80s classic, “Shout” by Tears for Fears. This song uses four super easy chord shapes, and each section is no more than three chords at a time, which makes it a perfect easy song for starting on guitar.

The lesson begins with some easy chords: Em, G, A, D. We practice chord switching, making sure we can build up that muscle memory and I go over some switching tips and tricks to make it a lot smoother.
We play the chords using downstrokes only to make sure we’re doing each one for the right amount of times, and then we move on and learn the strumming pattern

Once we have the strumming pattern down, we put it together with the chord progression, and we play through the chorus.
Next we learn the verse, which is basically a two chord song, going back and forth from G and A. We do that with our strumming pattern, and then we learn the bridge which… once again is just two chords!
We discuss putting the whole song together and then we play through our own little version of it and that’s it! A short and sweet lesson that’ll get you strumming through some simple chords and building up your muscle memory. See you soon!
