The lesson begins with the chord shapes used to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in the key of D: D, G and A.
We practice chord switching, making sure we can switch from D to G, and then switch from D to A. Then we practice the chord progression using downstrokes only, just so we can work on counting the beat and changing chords at the right time.
Next we learn the strumming pattern, which is very very simple: D-Du. We play the strumming pattern one time per chord shape.
Twinkle twinkle little star’s melody is one of the most basic on guitar. We can play it using a pick, or using your fingers. We learn it from the TAB, bit by bit, and then we put it all together, and we play along.
Finally, I have a backing track for Twinkle twinkle little star that you can practice either the chords, singing, strumming, or melody to. This gives you a great opportunity to work everything out nice and slow.
