Through the years, many people have told me on their first day of guitar lessons, “I just want to play a song” – so that’s just what we’ll focus on! 🎸This series is intended to teach you the basics of guitar by PLAYING ACTUAL SONGS in each video! 🎶 Of course, you’ll still learn the foundational stuff along the way, but it’ll be sprinkled in so you can still have fun and play your guitar while learning. 🤗
In this episode, we review our G, Cadd9 and Dsus4 chords from the first two lessons, and add a brand new chord – Em7! These are some of the most popular chords used in today’s music and my goal is to show you how many songs you can already play as a complete beginner! 💪🏼

HELPFUL TIP:
Notice that all 4 chords we’ve learned so far have something in common… 👀 You do NOT have to move your ring finger or pinky finger when transitioning between them! 🙌🏼 That means you can focus on moving JUST your index and middle fingers whenever you’re transitioning! 😁
Keep this in mind while you’re practicing those transitions at 5:30 👍🏼 (Sorry, I forgot to include this in the video! 😅)

Throughout this series, we’ll dive deeper into topics like tuning your guitar, practicing chord transitions, and figuring out strumming patterns, but for this lesson, I want you to focus on learning how to read chord charts because they are EVERYWHERE in the guitar player’s world! 🌎 As you start learning more about playing your guitar, you’ll see there are a few key skills you need to know. 🔑 Reading chord charts is definitely one of them, so I hope to break that down for you today! 💕
