A trill is a combination of a pull-off and a hammer-on. Watch as our expert guitar player demonstrates how to do it. It’s a trick to produce a voice-like sound.
Okay so now we can combine pull-offs and hammer-ons and create a long flowing idea which is called trills, right? So all that means is I’m hammering on, pulling off, hammering on, pulling off, over, and over, and over again. I’ve only hit it one time on the guitar. And you could just keep going faster, and faster, and faster, and faster. You could do that with any combination you’d like. You can start it with just this first finger, or you could start it the other way. Right, you hear the difference? Right, you can practice the whole pentatonic scale like that. All these are are just little tricks to make you sound more like a voice. Trills.
