In this Minor Blues Jazz guitar lesson I’m going to teach you, how to substitute your regular Minor Jazz Blues chord progression with cadences, also called reharmonization.
We’ll be using an Am Jazz Blues Progression and add chords inbetween to make it sound more mature and modern jazz like. We’ll be throwing in some minor cadences, dominant chords and nice turnarounds.
The Minor Blues Jazz chords are pretty easy to play in it’s simplest form, so we want to create more color. In this Jazz guitar lesson I’m going to teach you how to reharmonize a Minor Jazz blues.
The Chord substiturions we’ll be using are not hard to play either, if you already know the basic jazz guitar chords for a minor blues. There won’t be any new fancy voicings, we just gonna use what we already know.
Our A Minor Jazz Blues chord progression for guitar will sound pretty awesome. And the cool thing is, it’s absolutely compatible with the standard minor blues progression for guitar. The band should adapt to the new cadences, though.
By the end of this guitar tutorial you’ll be able to play all the Minor jazz blues guitar chords and know how to substitute a jazz minor blues.
There are so many great jazz standards based on the minor blues chord progression, it will be ablast to reharmonize them!
I’ve made minor jazz blues tabs and backing tracks, which you can download from this description box (link on top). So you can jam right along to my Minor jazz blues backing tracks. Oh, and the tab has standard notation also (for the more educated sight readers;-)
