Played out of the open G position, this old-time traditional tune that makes use of an AABBCC form. Played without a capo, this song has a long and storied history dating back to as far as the mid 1800’s. In the 1860’s, this song became very popular as a ‘walk-around’ by the minstrel troupe, and the verses were in alternating call-and-response form.
